Welcome

As a woman and a portrait photographer, I know how vulnerable it can feel to step in front of the camera. You’re not alone in that — so many of us share the same hesitation. The good news is, with just a few simple suggestions, anyone — no matter their age, style, or gender — can look and feel amazing in a portrait.

Stay natural
Babies and children have a wonderful advantage—they stay natural in front of the camera without even trying. For adults, this can feel harder. Try looking away from the camera or holding something—a child’s hand, a piece of your dress—to ease the pressure. These simple moves help create relaxed, authentic portraits that look beautiful and effortless.
Add neutrals
For a timeless look, build your outfit around neutral colors. Start with solid or soft hues, then add texture with accessories like knitted scarves or with fabrics such as corduroy or denim. This adds depth and interest without pulling attention away from you.

Be minimal
Keep the focus on you (and your loved ones) by choosing a clean, uncluttered background. Outdoors, avoid busy spots with lots of people in the frame. Indoors, opt for a plain wall or simple backdrop. The same idea applies to clothing — skip logos and bold patterns so nothing distracts from your presence in the portrait.

Sit Or Lean
Standing stiff in front of the camera can make anyone feel self-conscious. To instantly relax, try sitting or leaning casually against a wall, railing, or piece of furniture. This small shift not only calms your nerves but also adds a natural, effortless feel to your portrait.
Breathe
Before the shot, close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose, then slowly exhale through your mouth — and click! This simple step helps relax your lips and softens your eyes, avoiding that wide-eyed “deer in the headlights” look.

Movement
Add life to your portrait by walking, turning, or letting the wind play with your hair and clothing.
Movement brings energy and a touch of magic to every shot.

Celebrate You!
During your portrait session with me, you will be guided through all the natural poses but priority is always the authentic expressions and a relaxed session.
